Information about Latvia’s accession to the Eurozone
On January 1, 2014, the Republic of Latvia will join the Eurozone, and, in this respect, Latvijas pasta banka wishes to remind you about some essential aspects.
The transition from lats to euros will be done at a current rate of the Bank of Latvia, which is 0.702804 lats for one euro. The currency exchange in bank accounts will take place on the night of January 1 at the abovementioned official rate with no commission fees.
From January 1 to June 30 of 2014, it will be possible to exchange cash in lats to euros at banks with no commission. The exchange of lats to euros at the Bank of Latvia has no fixed date, and it will always be possible to do it (at the official rate).
For your convenience, we offer a calculator, which, by entering an amount in either euros or lats, will allow you to see the equivalent amount in the other currency at the official rate.
